Abstract:
As a result of three consecutive years of record dairy surpluses, the support price of milk was lowered 5O/cwt. in December 1983, with further reductions scheduled in 1985 if surpluses remain too high. This paper assesses the implications of these price reductions. for retail dairy prices and farm-level demand.
