MEASURING THE EFFECTS OF THE DISTRIBUTION OF INCOME UPON CONSUMER DEMAND FOR MEATS

William Hahn ()

No 269992, 1987 Annual Meeting, August 2-5, East Lansing, Michigan from American Agricultural Economics Association (New Name 2008: Agricultural and Applied Economics Association)

Abstract: This study demonstrates that the market demand for a good is a function of the Moment Generating Function of the income distribution. A model is developed that simultaneously estimates consumers' demand elasticities and the parameters of the Moment Generating Function. Statistical tests support the validity of the model.
