The Shepparton Irrigation Region Strategic Plan - The Next Five Years

Michael E. S. Young

No 171154, 1995 Conference (39th), February 14-16, 1995, Perth, Australia from Australian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society

Abstract: The Shepparton Irrigation Region Land and Water Salinity Management Plan, after four years of intensive planning and review, commenced implementation in July, 1990. Now, after four and a half years of experience gained from dealing with the day to day policies and practices of implementing a complex Salinity Management Plan over an area of 500,000 hectares in Northern Victoria, a Strategic Plan for the next five years is being developed. It will accommodate the output of new research and the changing needs of the Fanning Community and Government and includes a detailed re-evaluation of the economic priorities of each of the Plan's major implementation Programs, in a climate of limited and competitive funding resources.
