Abstract:
In about thirty years Martinique saw its agricultural surface decreasing. A great part of these surfaces have been absorbed by urbanization. However to safeguard the arable lands and the environment, while holding account of requirements in urbanization, a broad dialogue was started with all the actors of the regional planning To meet this need, it was agreed to make communal studies of sustainable agriculture in partnership with the local actors. A engineering and design department made up of Agriculture Chamber, CNASEA and SAFER was setup so: - to identify the parts of the territory having an important potential for agriculture - to propose rules of management adapted to each one these zones to ensure in a durable way the conservation of their agricultural destination In the second time a specific device of accompaniment of the farmers will be set up.
