Abstract:
The rediscovery of sustainable agriculture has resulted in greater consideration to practices that preserve natural symbionts like vesicular-arbuscular (VA) mycorrhizal fungi and nitrogen fixing bacteria in agroecosystems. The significance of these natural symbionts in the soil and their beneficial effects on plant growth are described, and the agricultural practices that negatively and positively affect their potential to enhance plant growth are examined.
