Estimating the Behaviour of Productivity in Government Administration Services in Australia

George Verikios

No 266385, Center of Policy Studies (COPS) Impact Project Papers from Monash University Center of Policy Studies

Abstract: This paper estimates the change in total factor productivity (TFP) in government administration services in Australia for the period 1986/87- 1993/94. A simple model is presented and calibrated using Australian data. TFP is estimated to have remained constant over this period. The issues with respect to measuring the output of government administration services are also explored.
