No 48114, 108th Seminar, February 8-9, 2008, Warsaw, Poland from European Association of Agricultural Economists

Abstract: This paper intends to shed some light upon the changes in farm incomes in Hungary as a result of the country’s accession to the EU in 2004. Subsidies for arable farms increased by 20 percent over three years. The highest degree of increase is observed in the case of arable farms. In terms of national farm subsidies the largest increase can also be identified in the case of large corporate arable and mixed farms. Nevertheless, it was found that the farm income level in Hungary is only half of that in the EU-25.
