TRADE AGREEMENTS AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: SOME OBSERVATIONS

Abstract:
My purpose here is to introduce a few Land O' Lakes development concepts, describe some of the most important trade concepts that guide our work in an increasingly interconnected world, describe in more detail our approach to development and some of the key tools we use, and then offer some observations about links between trade liberalization, competition and development. And, actually, I want to emphasize the important overlap between development and trade reforms and an exciting tool we use to build on the increased competition implicit in trade reform.
