MEASUREMENT AND COMPARISON OF AGRICULTURAL SUPPORT ACROSS EU MEMBER STATES: AN EVALUATION OF EXISTING INDICATORS AND POTENTIAL WAYS FORWARD

Abstract: Agricultural producers in the European Union (EU) receive public support through different support instruments and from different sources. So far, there is no database which provides a comprehensive overview of agricultural support in the respective member states. This study evaluates support indicators from different available data sources against seven criteria. It provides member state specific Producer Support Estimates (PSEs) based on OECD methodology for the period 2000 to 2013 and compares these estimates with other existing support indicators.
