New Developments in Agricultural Extension - Europe

J. Christensen

No 346071, 6th Congress, Minnesota, USA, 1986 from International Farm Management Association

Abstract: Having reviewed the agricultural situation in Denmark it is emphasised that farmers will continue to need an efficient advisory service no matter what the state of agricultural development. The need for specialised knowledge on the farms to implement new production technologies as well as the use of advanced technical equipment is constantly increasing. Farm management control will characterise the future developments in advisory work. Computers have become an integral part of the managerial process and would be used even more widely. The advisory services face considerable tasks in the development of effective programmes. In-service training of both advisors and farmers will become a necessary condition for sustaining a productive agriculture. Further, the advisory services must pay attention to considerations of environment, animal welfare and the demands of quality conscious consumers.
