Keeping Costs Low in the Grain Industry: Empirical Evidence from Illinois, U.S.A. Farms

Abstract:
In this paper the financial record of Illinois grain producers are examined to evaluate the economic viability of low cost - reduced input farm production. Results indicate that many of the farms using fewer inputs and incurring lower costs maintain a higher level of profits.
