Abstract:
In this paper, it is argued that there is a strong relationship between structures of "population distribution" and "distribution of land ownership and distribution of income" . In other words distribution of land and income" is a "push" factor in rural/agriculturai/urban/ non agricultural migration. The argument is mainly theoretical. A limited empirical evidence from Iran is consistent with the implication of the theoretical discussion. namely, the higher the inequality of land and income distribution within the rural areas, the higher the rural agricultural out-migration, and therefore more concentration of population in urban areas.
