Abstract:
The nature of intensive livestock systems are such that they create an environment where psychological constraints are put on stockpersons. This means that the stockpersons' behaviour may reduce both animal welfare and animal productivity. This paper highlights some of the constraints and puts forwards practical action for managers to ameliorate some of the problems.
