Less SWOT, More TOWS - Lessons for Industry Strategy Development from the Western Australian Pig Industry Taskforce

No 346382, 11th Congress, University of Calgary, Canada, July 14-19, 1997 from International Farm Management Association

Abstract: The WA pig sector is small by international standards and has been protected for many years by phytosanitary barriers. The industry is confronted by competition for domestic market share from North American exporters and competition for feedstuffs from other livestock sectors and export markets. This paper discusses the processes adopted by the WA Pig Industry Taskforce in developing a consensual industry strategy and the outcome of this initiative.
