Abstract:
Farm management education is undergoing change in Australia, the United Kingdom and in the United States. Farm populations are changing and these changes have impacted upon farm management education. Reduction of resources, pressures from the broader community and advances in technology have led to restructuring ofprogrammes in all three countries. The dilemma faced by farm management educators is to maintain the emphasis on quality education while at the same time adjusting to change. The authors outline specific adjustments that have been made at the three institutions. The principles that will continue to guide the development of farm management education into the 21st Century are reliance on a systems approach, industry involvement and active learning by students.
