Abstract:
Partners are increasingly interested in developing a business plan for their operations, but at the same time, they are often reluctant, or unsure about how to formulate such a long-term vision. Planning is a multi-step process that requires farmers to describe what stage their business is at, where they want their business to go, what strategies they will use to reach those goals, and how they will keep their business on track Farmers understand that planning is an ongoing effort, and those who have done some planning indicate that there have been benefits even though they have not yet fully developed or implemented their plan. Farmers also indicate they are interested in receiving more information about business planning in the form of workshops, computer software, worksheets/guide sheets, and assistance from trained professionals.
