Abstract:
Korea is a land-short economy faced with a very high population density and low land cultivation density and high rates of migration from farm to urban areas with rapid urbanization. Therefore, agricultural land is one of the valuable resources for the Korean economy. Shortage of land has been one of the major limitations of production in the Republic of Korea in trying to produce enough food to supply its expected demand. Population growth is one of the major factors in determining this demand for food. Currently, about 60 percent of the population still derives its likelihood from agriculture. Agriculture sector contributes about 28.4 percent of the GNP.
