Abstract: This paper presents brief notes on the format and use of budgets in both financial and economic analysis. The main emphasis in on enterprise budgets, with some mention of capital budgets. Alternative measures of profitability are defined and compared. Methods of estimating opportunity costs are briefly discussed.
