No 55232, Food Security Collaborative Policy Briefs from Michigan State University, Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics

Abstract: This flash deals with the issue of alternative organizational forms in the interaction between agroindustrial investments and the smallholder agricultural sector in the food/fiber supply chain in rural areas of Mozambique, and makes a preliminary analysis on links to poverty reduction, and the role of policy in strengthening those effects. This issue is increasingly important, particularly for policy makers, private sector and NGOs engaged in promoting rural agro-industry in rural areas where poverty is more accentuated. It draws on a reconnaissance study undertaken in Mozambique in 2001
