Abstract: Trade in services by modes of supply provides valuable information to carry out impact assessments of free trade agreements under the European services trade policy. As recognised by the Eurostat's working group on international trade in services statistics, the availability of statistics on the international supply of services detailed by services category, mode of supply and by partner country is highly important for services trade policy making and related analysis. Therefore, this paper explores the current experience of national (e.g. Spain and Germany) and international actors (e.g. Eurostat) on this issue and aims to illustrate possible ways to explore how to split services trade by mode of supply in the GTAP database.
