Abstract:
The paper evaluates the impact of the increase of freight transport costs on the global economy. Using a detailed transport database, a set of detailed shocks by transportation mode, regions and commodities feed a multi-region, recursive dynamic general equilibrium model which analyses the sectorial (agri-food sectors, manufacturing) and macroeconomic (trade, wide-economic indicators) impacts of the recent surge in shipping costs.
