Buddhi Raj Gyawali, Banerjee, Swagata (Ban), Anquinette Hill and James O. Bukenya

No 120933, 2012 Annual Meeting, February 4-7, 2012, Birmingham, Alabama from Southern Agricultural Economics Association

Abstract: This paper examined income convergence in 875 counties of the 10-state southeastern region using Census data for 1980 and 2000. Logarithmic difference of average per capita income between those years was regressed on socioeconomic variables. Changes in education, labor force, and employment were strong determinants of income growth.
