Sensitive Product Designation in the Doha Round: The Case of Rice

Abstract: Effects of sensitive product designation in WTO trade reform on the international rice market are analyzed. General and partial equilibrium frameworks are used. Results suggest large impacts. Among exporters, China and the U.S., major suppliers of the Japanese and South Korean markets, are most negatively affected.
