IMPACTOS DA ESTRATÉGIA DE DESVERTICALIZAÇÃO NO DESEMPENHO DA CADEIA MOVELEIRA DE UBÁ (MG) E REGIÃO

Abstract: O setor moveleiro de Ubá e região está estruturado de forma verticalizada. A literatura aponta que a desverticalização do setor pode tornar o pólo mais competitivo, atingindo maior eficiência e causando maior fortalecimento da região. Para avaliar a veracidade dessa hipótese, verificaram-se os possíveis efeitos da desverticalização para a lucratividade das empresas envolvidas. Assim, os objetivos da pesquisa foram avaliar as conseqüências da estratégia de desverticalização em cadeias moveleiras. Inicialmente traçou-se o perfil do pólo com base em uma amostra de empresas e, a seguir, realizou-se um estudo de caso múltiplo em duas empresas. Utilizou-se a dinâmica de sistemas para modelar os efeitos das inter-relações das variáveis determinantes da decisão de terceirização. As variáveis que mais afetam a decisão de desverticalização foram o custo e a qualidade. Por sua vez, a variável aumento de capacidade de produção assumiu importância secundária.---------------------------------------------The research studied the possible effects of the production chain deverticalization on the wood furniture production sector of Ubá city and surroundings. Thus, the research objective was to assess the process of deverticalization in wood furniture production chains, through the identification of factors related to this process and their effects on the profitability of chosen firms in the Ubá’s region. The research starts with the development of a chain profile, through the study of a statistic sample of firms. This stage was followed by the development of a multiple case study, in which the profitability of two firms was studied. System dynamics were the tool used in the case studies. The firms’ results showed that cost and quality were the two main aspects affecting the deverticalization decision. In this context, the increase of the firm’s production capacity showed to be of secondary importance.
