Abstract:
This article presents a case study of a large international company in the sector of distribution of food, specializing in the supply of frozen potatoes, established in Brazil in the city of Sao Paulo. The focus of the study was to identify strategies for the production and distribution used by the company as a factor of competitiveness. Using primary and secondary data, it was possible to define the parameters of competitiveness of the company, and the characterization of the industry. Thus, could be noted that: i) the marketing of potatoes in Brazil has undergone radical changes in recent years, ii) that the importation of frozen potatoes, are reaching considerable slices of the market, reducing further the disputed Brazilian market, and iii) that McCain is responsible for 71% of the Brazilian market for frozen potatoes.
