IMPACTOS DA AGROINDÚSTRIA CANAVIEIRA SOBRE O CRESCIMENTO ECONÔMICO LOCAL: UM ESTUDO DE CASO

Abstract: Este estudo analisa os impactos no crescimento econômico do município de Cidade Gaúcha-PR gerados pela instalação da Usina Usaciga. Utilizou-se dados primários, cedidos pela empresa, e dados secundários, compilados dos Censos Demográficos do IBGE e da Base de Dados do Ipardes. Como resultado, a Usina Usaciga gera atualmente 2.195 empregos diretos. A instalação da empresa e conseqüente crescimento da renda do município estimulou o desenvolvimento de atividades que atendem as demandas locais, como o comércio, a construção civil, os serviços, etc. Conseqüentemente, Cidade Gaúcha pôde experimentar um crescimento de sua população urbana e total maior que o ocorrido na mesorregião Noroeste Paranaense no período 1980-2000, além de uma perda de população rural menos acentuada. Além disso, constatou-se que a instalação da empresa em Cidade Gaúcha contribuiu para o crescimento das receitas de transferências do estado ao município, bem como para o aumento das receitas próprias do município. ---- This study analyses the impacts in the economic growth of Cidade Gaúcha municipality (Paraná State) generated by the installation of the Usaciga plant. Primary data given by the company and secondary data compiled by the Demographic Census of IBGE and the Database of Ipardes were used. As a result the Usaciga generates 2.195 direct jobs. The installation of the company and consequent income growth of the municipality stimulated the development of activities that supply the local demand, such as the commerce, civil construction, service, etc. Eventually, the Cidade Gaúcha municipality could experience growth of its urban and total population greater comparing to the occurred in the Northwestern mesoregion of Paraná State in the period of 1980-2000, besides a less pronounced in the rural population. Moreover, it was evidenced that the installation of the company in this city contributed for the growth of the transference of the state to the municipality as well as for the growth in its own income.
