Evaluation of Malathion, Synergized Pyrethrum, and Diatomaceous Earth as Wheat Protectants... In Small Bins

Delmon W. La Hue

No 312265, Marketing Research Reports from United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Marketing Service, Transportation and Marketing Program

Abstract: Excerpts from the report: The primary objective of this study was to compare the effectiveness of malathion and synergized pyrethrum emulsions and a diatomaceous earth dust as wheat protectants in small bins—a method that is intermediate between large field-scale applications and small jar tests in the laboratory. This work is a part of a broad program of research to improve the quality of food that reaches the consumer by preventing damage in marketing channels.
