Abstract: Excerpt from the report Summary: In summary, we recommend that the AMS fruit and vegetable market news program report contract prices and terms to complement reporting of fresh market prices which are widely available for most fruits and vegetables. The marketing system has changed since the institution of the Federal-State market news reporting system with its heavy emphasis on fresh market commodities. It is time to move ahead with expanded coverage of the processing segment of the market, which is now larger than the fresh market segment for major fruits and vegetables.
