Abstract:
U.S. agricultural exports rose to $21 billion in the first 9 months of fiscal year (FY) i 1987, 1 percent more than those of the same period in FY 1986. U.S. agricultural imports ~. totaled $15.8 billion during the first 9 months of FY 1987, slightly below the record high level for the same period in FY 1986. Prices for soybeans, soybean meal, wheat, cotton, cocoa and rubber increased during 1987, and by June surpassed year-earlier levels. In FY 1986, shipments of U.S. agricultural products through the Commodity Credit Corporation's (CCC) export credit programs fell to $2.4 billion, 14 percent below year-earlier levels.
