Agriculture in the Environment
Economic Research Service
No 324005, Miscellaneous Publications from United States Department of Agriculture, Economic Research Service
Abstract:
Excerpts from the Preface: A groundswell of public concern about the declining quality of our environment has swept the nation. People are demanding an end to further degradation. They want improved standards of environmental quality, better resource allocations, more tasteful developments, and greater access to recreational opportunities and natural environmental experiences. This concern transcends traditional conservation goals and has stimulated new interest in the public effects of private actions. Agriculture has major interests in the total environment; it both affects and is affected by levels of environmental quality. The Economic Research Service provides socio-economic information on a broad range of environmental problems.
