Walter W. Pawson

No 324697, Miscellaneous Publications from United States Department of Agriculture, Economic Research Service

Abstract: This report contains estimates of variable costs of producing major irrigated field crops in seven production areas of the Southwest Region of the United States. The crops are upland cotton, American-Pima cotton, barley, grain sorghum, corn, wheat, alfalfa hay, and safflower. Budgets show the quantity and value of specific preharvest and harvest inputs, total preharvest and harvest costs per harvested acre, and total variable costs per harvested acre. Data concerning crop yields and rates of fertilization are also included.
