Vegetables: Final Estimates 1987-92

Abstract: This publication presents final acreage. yield. and production estimates for selected U.S. vegetable crops by States for 1987-92. Some estimates have been revised slightly since they last appeared in A~ricultural Statistics Board releases. Estimates contained in this publication provide a historic record and a benchmark for current estimates. A total of nineteen vegetable crops were added to the program in 1992. For fresh market they are: artichokes. lima beans. snap beans. brussels sprouts. cabbage. cantaloups. cucumbers. eggplant. escarole/endive. garlic. leaf lettuce. romaine lettuce. bell peppers. spinach. and watermelons. Added processing crops are: beets for canning. lima beans. cabbage for kraut. and spinach. Estimates were originally published during 1988-93 in periodic Agricultural Statistics Board releases. Some estimates have been revised following review of original data and data which became available later. Other series of data considered were shipment records. export data. and quantities processed data. Estimates on Vegetable crops in earlier years are available in Statistical Bulletins No. 814 for 1982-87. No. 728 for 1978-82. No. 665 for 1974-78. Nos. 585 and 586 for 1969-74. Nos. 494 and 495 for 1964-70. Nos. 411 and 412 for 1959-65. Nos. 299 and 300 for 1954-59. Nos. 210 and 212 for 1949-55. and Nos. 126 and 132 for 1939-50.
