Abstract:
Per capita energy consumption in nonmetropolitan areas is higher than in metropolitan areas. This is true for both British thermal units and dollars, although expenditures differ less than consumption in physical units. Differences in fossil fuel consumption are particularly large probably reflecting location of electric generating plants.
