THE WORLD GRAIN-OILSEEDS-LIVESTOCK (GOL) MODEL, A SIMPLIFIED VERSION

Karen Liu and Vernon O. Roningen

No 277671, Staff Reports from United States Department of Agriculture, Economic Research Service

Abstract: This report presents a simplified version of the world grain-oilseeds-livestock (GOL) agricultural trade model. It describes the general characteristics of GOL, its product coverage, and its regional configuration. Specifications are given for a simple standard country model and for the world market clearing model. The report also describes the linkage mechanism which combines country models, regional models, and the world market clearing model to form a world system. It discusses the requirements for model simulations and the linkage of more detailed versions of country models to the global system.
