Abstract: This report documents the methodology and procedures employed in the construction of a data base for the U. S. food industry. It provides information on variables which describe the production, marketing, and demand structure of the industry at the national, regional, and State level. The data base contains over 500 variables and covers 1949-83. Aggregation problems and solutions are discussed along with the procedures to adjust for missing data.
