Abstract:
We use estimates of 2026 farm cash receipts in order to project statewide economic impacts. Cash receipts of $38.5 billion supports a total of 175,000 jobs in the Iowa economy, generates an additional outlay of $13.5 billion along the supply chains and creates another $6.1 billion of induced spending. This represents a dollar multiplier of 1.5 from every dollar of agricultural spending. The total addition to state GDP is expected to be $24.7 billion in 2026 and overall, the sales of farm goods are expected to be a source of $3.7 billion in (local, state and federal) government receipts in 2026.
