Clement Tisdell

No 153505, Biodiversity Conservation: Studies in its Economics and Management, Mainly in Yunnan China from University of Queensland, School of Economics

Abstract: In this paper, I shall consider the global historical, intellectual and policy context to which biodiversity, conservation and sustainable development in north-east India needs to be related and consider these matters within Asia, especially south Asia. Attention will then be given to specific sustainability issues in north-east India, including agricultural sustainability and sustainability of forests and of communities, and comparisons will be made with some localities in south Asia which face or have faced similar challenges and problems.
