Marketing and Transportation of Grain by Local Cooperatives

Abstract: A total of 1,749 local cooperative associations handled 5.1 billion bushels of grain during the 1990-91 marketing period. Cooperative grain storage totaled 3 billion bushels. Corn, at 2.1 billion bushels, was the leading grain marketed. Wheat was second at 1.3 billion bushels. More than half the grain sold by cooperatives was moved by truck.
