Farm Migration, 1940-1945: An Annotated Bibliography

Eleanor H. Bernert and Gladys Bowles

No 317830, USDA Miscellaneous from United States Department of Agriculture

Abstract: Excerpt from the Preface: The commercial and industrial expansion occasioned by the defense and war programs of the Nation greatly altered the direction, magnitude, and composition of the farm migration which characterized the thirties. Knowledge of the facts concerning these population movements is somewhat scarce and spotty. To meet the interest in information relevant to farm population change due to migration, research agencies in various parts of the country have conducted many surveys and studies. In order to collect into one publication, the references and facts concerning the defense and wartime migration to and from the farm areas of the Nation, this bibliography has been prepared.
