Abstract:
The concept of the rural community as an organic unit is one that has been interpreted at different times and by different people in various ways, with emphasis now on one factor, again on another, tangible or intangible. In addition to presenting material on these various interpretations and on the background and philosophy of community organization, particularly in rural communities, this bibliography includes references showing ways in which rural people work together through organizations and institutions. In this latter section there has been no attempt to include all material on rural organizations, but only such as relates definitely to the community concept.
