Abstract: This report presents an overview of major Egyptian economic problems and special agricultural problems being addressed by the U.S. economic assistance program for the country. The various elements of the program are described and evaluated, with special reference to low-cost technology; potentials for private sector participation in economic development, including agribusiness; projects to increase agricultural output; cooperatives and credit.
