Abstract: Excerpt from the Preface: This report was prepared upon recommendation of the Agricultural Policy Working Group, a staff group of the Cabinet-level Agricultural Policy Committee. The central purpose of the report is to provide a compendium of major policy and program issues related to food and agriculture likely to confront the new Secretary of Agriculture in the next six months. A major part of the report is devoted to identification and discussion of the issues. The report also contains a brief overview of the economic situation and short-term outlook for agriculture, a set of key statistical indicators of performance of the sector in recent years; a list of regularly scheduled economic and statistical reports; and a list of pending USDA budget supplementals for FY 1977.
