The Market Outlook and Prospective Competition for United States Rice in Asia, the Near East, and Europe – A Report of a Survey of the Rice Situation in Asia, the Near East, and Europe in 1948

J. Norman Efferson

No 396202, USDA Miscellaneous from United States Department of Agriculture

Abstract: Excerpt from the report Foreword: The United States rice industry depends upon export outlets for about 40 percent of the domestic production of its grain. Because of the need for the appraisal of the factors that will contribute to the determination of levels of production and consumption of, and international trade in, rice in major exporting and importing areas of the world, thus affecting the export market for rice produced in the United States, a study of the situation was made in producing countries of the Far East, the Near East, and southern Europe and in importing countries of western Europe during the period, March-August 1948.
