Estimates of the magnitude of blending efficiencies in the pacific northwest white wheat industry

Terry P. Townsend and Michael V. Martin

No 291674, WAEA/ WFEA Conference Archive (1929-1995) from Western Agricultural Economics Association

Abstract: The unique nature of the white wheat grading specification and accompanying price discounting schedule creates the opportunity for large Pacific Northwest grain elevator firms to realize returns form white wheat blending. This paper estimates the potential size of these returns for the period 1969 to 1979, assuming optimal blending practices were employed.
