Abstract:
The study concerned the role of the rural women in the livestock production decisions. The decisions were three groups. Investment, purchase of inputs and production operations. The objective was covered by a sample survey of 75 farm households in an Egyptian village, in Sharkia government in 1985. Association between the women role and some socio-economic features were tested using chi square test. The conclusion is that when an implementation program is devoted to develop the livestock on farm it is recommended to consider mainly the women members of the farm household, particularly the wives of the age 30-45 years old, inspite of the education level, and it is preferable to focus upon the category of the households of less than 5 feddans. However it is recommended to apply this survey to include other governorates and also upper Egypt.
