Abstract: This article analyses one of the Demographic Census 2000 new features: the labor done without direct economic purpose, carried through for self-consumption. It also intends to analyze the implications of such innovation for the measurement of the new forms of labor, that is, the economic contribution of the labor for self-consumption, which presents a dichotomy. This kind of labor is typical for not generating income despite being considered a kind of occupation and owner of social function.
