Abstract:
A limited survey among professors of real estate related chairs of Dutch universities was held in order to reveal the various research areas. This showed a clear focus on the macro level of portfolio and strategy and an underexposure for the micro level of transaction, object and operational involvement. An undesirable mismatch. After all, research is mainly based on databases which find their origin at that lower level. This paper is about the importance of those data and their suppliers, the brokers and valuers. The key position of these market parties has been proved beyond any doubt. Nevertheless, it should be mentioned that their is a lot to improve on data quality. The current market circumstances could ask for a solution that has been neglected for about ten years now. This suggestion could improve the system of data processing. An explanation of the intended upset is given.
