Abstract: Housing is one of basic necessities of life. Housing transcends physical shelter but determines even social, physical and psychological well being of man. Housing development is a critical aspect of provision of shelter as it involves a chain of processes and commitment from site acquisition to construction and final occupation or disposal. The professionals in the built environment especially the estate surveyors and valuers and town planners are indispensable in the process; in areas of economic viability, location, feasibility, orientation, maintenance to keep such development in line with statute, relevant standards, present day realities and technology. This paper will exam the roles expected of estate surveyors and valuers and town planners by their professional training and the implications of these on an emerging mega city project.
