Abstract:
Using micro data on judicial proceedings in Uruguay we present evidence that female defendants receive a more favorably treatment in courts than male defendants. This is due to longer foreclousure proceedings and higher probabilities of being granted extensions in evictions and dispossessions for female defendants.
