Instant Report N. 6/2020 - Socio-economic Vulnerability: A Proposal for an Index aimed at more targeted public policies. Apulian municipalities by vulnerability

Abstract:
The report deals with situations of fragility in the territories and how to identify them. The Agency felt the need to develop an index that, at municipal level, would enhance the most up-to-date statistical information. The Instant Report devotes, therefore, a focus to an analysis of the vulnerability of Apulia's municipalities, using the synthetic index elaborated by ARTI itself. Four, in particular, are the dimensions investigated by the proposed index: old age, family fragility, prospects of social change/educational poverty and economic vulnerability. What emerges is a snapshot of the situations of greatest distress that can be tackled and alleviated by regional policies that, in a more precise manner, intervene on the individual vulnerability factors identified and on their interactions: the conclusions list, therefore, the areas and guidelines for possible public intervention.
